Jack's Reef last Sunday had 14 paddlers launching amidst rubble at Port-O-Call of new bridge construction. Weather was perfectly summertime marvelous with no thunder storm in sight. Water temperature was 74 degrees with a few motorized boaters and jet skiis. Many paddlers were new to this trip who just bought their kayaks this year. Out the river to the island in calm water for snacking and conversation the island was just large enough for our assemblage to admire Cross Lake. Then it was back to Port-O-Call for 9 who enjoyed some more snacking and conversation before very dark clouds in the north sent us home in time for the predicted thunder storm.
