We were 30 paddlers strong as we enjoyed a cool but sunny-warm day at South
Sandy Beach on Lake Ontario, complete with a "kayak-buffet" - literally all
kinds of snacks laid end to end on a kayak. The water temperature, or lack
thereof, didn't stop Phil C from practicing a couple 360's (and a 180 for
testing his dry-suit). This was captured in video, and can be viewed along with
the many photos taken during the outing. Several paddlers tried out each others'
boats on the lake, others just went out and enjoyed the waves of the open water.
The apres-paddle gathering was back at the tried and true Paradise Restaurant.
For most of us it is a long drive to paddle the short 2 mile trip to the beach,
but well worth it to be with a great group of people - as the new members on
their first outing discovered. Many commented on how wonderful it is to be with
fun, caring people who go out of their way to help and instruct those who need
it, and extend the very utmost consideration to each other. |
