Fantastic people, perfect weather, warm water, great vittles - all four came together on South Sandy Beach for the Patriotic Paddlers Party! Thirty-four paddlers - a few newcomers, and many long-time members enjoyed a breeze just good enough to keep the bugs away and send a few rollers into the beach. The combination of heat, humidity, and warm lake water lured most of us into the lake to practice wet exits and entrances, and I actually tried to learn how to roll! After many totally clumsy attempts and the feeling of certainty that I was not going to accomplish it, all of a sudden everything came together and I did 3 unassisted rolls! Much applause from the spectators and I was back to the buffet. Fifteen of us proceeded to the Waterfront Tavern in Brewerton for dinner on the deck under the shade of the new pavillion. It was a wonderful day from start to finish! If you were one of the 34 paddlers and you would like to add something to this report, please email Rick Phillips at rphilips@twcny.rr.com.
