Thirteen happy paddlers hit the water Sunday for the first paddle of spring 2008.  The weather was cool but sunny with very little wind for most of the journey.  After launching at Longbranch Park, we paddled east on the Seneca River.  This was a great opportunity to stretch those muscles that have been longing for the feel of the paddle.  The sounds of the birds chirping as we paddled reminded us that spring is really here even though there was still a little snow on the ground.  Because of the time of year, there was no competition with other boat traffic.  It was also time to renew our friendships with fellow paddlers and to look forward to another great paddling season.  After paddling about four miles along the river, we reversed direction for our return paddle.

Once our boats had been returned to there traditional resting places for the necessary road travel, it was time to contemplate another fine tradition, the after paddle renewal of energy.  Because of difficulty in making a reservation at a local establishment, we had to make a last minute change in our destination.  The outstanding food and service at the “Retreat” in the village of Liverpool made for a relaxing conclusion to our adventure.  Life is good!
