For our second official club paddle of the new season 14 people gathered at Sylvan Beach with 3 being brand new to kayaks. Ten boats went up the Barge Canal to the first lock and back, traversing a very swift current coming out of the Fish Creek giving a close approximation of a spinning amusement park ride. Despite our "Spring" weather being on the cold side with wind blasting, the sun popped out frequently during the nearly 10 mile trip. Water level was well up and virtually no motor boat traffic, only a couple of fishing boats parked. New greenery in the woods, tree leaves in bud, and various bird species in flight gave us plenty of scenery while paddlers conversed. Back at the take-out at 4 p.m. 4 hungry paddlers proceeded to the restaurant across the inlet to Oneida Lake for dinner while the sun set during dinner. Another Sunday afternoon enjoyed with parting words of "See you next week."
