May 10th's Mother's Day Sunday paddle out of the Lion's Club Park in Baldwinsville on the Seneca River drew a small crowd of 10 including Tish and Gene, Rick and Cindy, Roger and Anne, Simon and Casey, Patrick, and Andy. In celebration of Mother's Day, Anne's daughter Casey and her boyfriend Simon, were kayaking for the first time, in borrowed boats and equipment, but looked just like experts real fast. The weather was reasonably warm with scattered clouds but a gusty wind blasting down the river to make things interesting. No mishaps were had and a leisurely couple hours were enjoyed with the river nearly all to ourselves, which won't be the case much longer. And yes, a jet ski was arriving just as we were packing up to depart. Our buddy Vic, who is in time-consuming training for marathon running, intercepted us at the park, in his Jeep this time instead of on foot, and 7 out of then 11 proceeded to picnic at the Phillipses' conveniently located home just downriver. Another enjoyable Sunday afternoon was had that went by way too fast. So with Summer now upon us many outtings are anticipated and plans to be made to make them a reality.
