| Paddlers: Early paddlers = Aneta, Robert, Bob, Pam One O'clock paddlers = Nina, Phyllis, Katie, Pete, Walt, Howard, Rick, Cindy, Kim, Gene, Tish, Sue, Aneta, Robert, Bob, Roger, Judy, Dave, Larry How far: Early paddle = 8 miles One O'clock paddle = 7.15 mile Total miles for those who did both: Robert, Aneta , and Bob did about 18 miles. Weather: Early paddle = A little chop & cool, which quickly became perfect One O'clock paddle = Perfect Eventful: Early paddle = No One O'clock paddle = No Summary: Early paddle = Paddlers launched from town of Scott, paddled the cliffless shore first, then crossed the lake, stopped for lunch at noon near the cliffs, and paddled the cliffy shore/middle to join the group. One O'clock paddle = Paddlers launched from town of Scott, paddled the east side by the cliffs, stopped for a short break, snack & swim, crossed the lake, came back to launch site along the west side. Scenery was awesome. There were a few bright reds in the hills. Minimal amount of boats & jet skis. Perfect day. Nina invited us to a cookout at her house in the village. We had cheese, crackers, eggplant hummus, hot dogs, conies, hamburgers, corn on the cob, cole slaw, potato salad, watermelon, brownies, multigrain corn curls, beer & water. She is a great cook (perfectly done burgers!) and a great hostess. It was a wonderful day with kayak friends. Thank You, Nina :) A few paddlers tackled Oneida Lake on Saturday: Bob paddled 25 miles (had to go out that extra mile!), and Robert and Jerry paddled 24 miles. Pam, Aneta, Christine and Phil paddled over 9 miles from Sylvan Beach to meet the guys. Eventful: Oh, yes!!! The surf on the last 2 miles was a killer. Christine suffered a head injury after she slipped and had her boat fall on her head while getting out. |
