Sylvan Beach/Barge Canal

Approximately 10 Miles
Recommended For Experienced Paddlers

Our Sunday, November 18th trip is on the NYS Barge Canal going east from Sylvan Beach and return. We will meet at 12:00 PM at the launch site which is located under the bridge at Sylvan Beach along the canal. Because of the distance and time of year, this paddle is recommended for experienced paddlers only. Please be sure that you are properly dressed for the paddle and have all appropriate equipment. Note: Our trip last week started in the same place. But because of the calm lake and great weather, we changed the direction of that paddle. We paddled out onto the lake and then up Oneida Creek. Our trip this week will be what was originally proposed for last week. Note the time change. We have also changed the meeting place.

Directions from Syracuse:
To get there, take the Thruway east from Syracuse to exit 34 and then Route 13 north. As you enter Sylvan Beach, turn left just before the bridge and then right to proceed to the area under the bridge.

Please Note: Directions for each trip are provided to help people unfamiliar with the area to find the location of the trip. They are not meant to necessarily be the most direct route from your own location.
