Old Forge/Nicks Lake Overnight 2009
Camp and Paddle - 06/26-06/28 (2009)
"Winner of the 2008 Nicks Lake Spider Race"
We will be camping at Nicks Lake outside Old Forge on Friday and Saturday nights and doing the paddle on Saturday. For those people who are interested, we will also be doing a paddle on Friday and Sunday. If you are interested in camping, you will need to make your own campsite reservations through Reserve America Online. Jim Hunter has already reserved the traditional Saturday morning group breakfast site which is site 80 in loop D. Sites may go fast, so if you are interested, make your reservations A.S.A.P. You will also need to make arrangements for your own food other than Saturday breakfast (bring something to pass). In the past, some participants have gone into Old Forge for dinners. Others have cooked on their campsites. We will get together for a campfire in the evening.
Paddle and Rail: is a new added episode for this year's campout. On Saturday 6/27/09 we will paddle down the Moose River from Tickner's to a designated spot where the Adirondack Scenic Railroad train will pick us up and take us back to Old Forge. The price for this is $26 per person which includes transportation of your boat back to Old Forge which is $18 for your kayak and $8 train ticket for yourself which is included in the $26. We will be paddling by 11:30 Saturday morning for a total trip time of 4 hours with a lunch stop at one of two short portages. I do need to make reservations for this with Tickner's. Please email: email@example.com or phone me. Rick Phillips 652-3820. Please RSVP by 6/13.
River & Rail - Approx 4 Hours
