Are
you
ready
for
another
great
camping/paddling
weekend?
Are
you
tired
of
the
Seneca
River? Join us for some new paddling waters.
This weekend has everything. If you want a leisurely paddle,
there are two beautiful lakes and quiet streams with access directly
from the campground. Are you looking for something more
adventurous? Do you want to explore beyond that next beaver
dam? Then we have that too. ![]() This
is
our
first
camping/kayaking
weekend
of
the
2010
paddling
season.
For
the
past
few years, this weekend has been held at
Nicks Lake Campground outside of Old Forge. This year we are
venturing into a new area and will be staying at Moffitt Beach
Campground which is located outside of Speculator, NY. The new
campground brings with it new waters to paddle. Our main paddle
will be on Saturday, but for those interested, we will also be paddling
on Friday and Sunday. If you do not wish to camp, you are still
welcome to join us for the paddle on Saturday. Launch time for the Saturday paddle will
be posted at a later date. If
you
are
interested
in
camping,
you
will
need
to
make
your
own
campsite
reservations
through
Reserve
America
Online.
Jim
Hunter
has
already
volunteerd
to
host the traditional Saturday morning group breakfast on
campsite 157 loop G. Sites may go fast, so if you are interested, make
your reservations A.S.A.P. Loop G is located adjacent to a
nice sandy beach where we will be launching for our paddles.
Imagine, a whole weekend without having to put your kayak on the car.
Most of the waterfront campsites have a very rocky shore and are not
well suited for launching. However, with wheels, you can be at
the beach launch site in 5 minutes or less from the loop G
campsites. You are welcome to camp anywhere you want, but it's
nice if we can all be in the same area. Click

a
note
to
think
about. At this time of year, mosquitoes
and black flies may be around. We have been lucky at Nicks Lake
and they really haven't been a big problem. But at Moffitt Beach,
it's an unknown. So be sure to come prepared.
